WHEELCHAIR RIDE

A wheelchair user was taken on a terrifying 50- mph (80-km/h) ride for 4 minute (6.4 km) along a U.S. highway in 2007 after his handlebars became wedged in the front grill of a truck. Ben Carpenter, a 21 year- old muscular- dystrophy sufferer, was crossing the street in Paw Paw, Michigan, when the back of his motorized wheelchair was bumped by a truck leaving a gas station, the impact trapping the chair in the radiator grill. The truck driver then drove off down the highway, unaware that he had an involuntary passenger on the front of his vehicle. Luckily, horrified passers-by saw Carpenter's predicament and alerted the police, who eventually managed to stop the truck. Carpenter was unhurt, having been held in place in his wheelchair by a seat belt. Afterward he said: " It was quite a ride." DUCK OVERBOARD

In January 1992, a stupendous storm washed three containers off a ship that was bound from Hong Kong to Tacoma, Washington. One container spilled its contents into the sea no less than 29000 bathtub toys! Two third of them bobbed off south through the tropics, landing months later on the shores of Indonesia, Australia, and South America. The remaining 10000 plastic ducks, turtles, frogs, and beavers headed north and were soon off the coast of Alaska whereupon they turned back westward. Some of the ducks made their way south and were seen floating past Japan in 1995. Many however, became trapped in the North pacific Gyre. This giant clockwise spiral of water collects and gradually grinds the oceans' plastic debris. However, even this couldn't halt the plucky ducks, which eventually broke free and pressed on.
